Getting closer!

Posted in General | 20:36

Getting really excited now, as time goes on and we get closer to being able to bring Lincoln home with us.  We still don't know which one he is, but it's not too bad yet, since they're all super adorable.  Hopefully we'll know within 2 weeks or so.

Last Sunday we had the chance to take Titus for the day.  Titus is a 2 year old owner-surrender, who just recently arrived here from B.C.  He came from Liette's breeding so the owner returned him to her due to a divorce.  He's a great dog, but has serious separation anxiety.  I think she's trying to convince us we want him!  LOL, we would take him, but we work during the day, and we'd just be asking for trouble with his SA. We might take him out for a day again, since it's really good to get him more socialized and introduced to new things.  We did some fun trails, played a little fetch, which pretty much just involved throwing the kong-on-a-rope thingy, him chasing it and then standing there thinking "ok, I found it, now come get it and throw it again!"  He wasn't very good at fetch.  LOL, we can work on that!

Pups are on mash now, and Scout is only letting them nurse once a day.  She'll have them weaned in a couple days.  They had their first outing on the deck a few days ago, and they've finally moved out to the living room, cause all kinds of havoc!!

Here's a pic of the 2 girls (Pink and Yellow) and 1 boy (Brown):

The anticipation is killing me

We visited Lincoln and the rest of the pups last Monday.  Their eyes are finally open!  Already it is Friday and I can just imagine the changes since then!  We are planning another visit next Tuesday.  Being able to hold and cuddle those little fur-babies is tops. I've never had a puppy before and it's true what they say about puppy breath - it's intoxicating!

The puppies are starting to play with each other now, biting and climbing and annoying all their siblings.  Liette will be moving them out into the living room soon, if she hasn't already done so. They'll be tearing around the house in no time.

Right now Dave & Liette have 6 adult weims in their house, plus the 8 puppies.  I don't know how they do it - the food alone!  Just Scout is eating 12 cups of food a day while she's nursing!

Tomorrow we finish our fence in our backyard, so it will be fully fenced in for little Lincoln.  We live on a very busy road and we can't take any chances. Even just going from the car to the house, we're going to have to be extra careful with him.

Here are the pups, nursing at 14 days:

I really do dream about Lincoln

3 Days Old

I don't know which of the 6 boys is my Lincoln, but at this point it doesn't really matter.  I'm content with just knowing that he's in there, in the bunch, just waiting for me to pick him.  It's only been 7 days since he's been in the world, but it's been close to 3 months since I've been dreaming of him.  JR and I had the chance to meet the puppies the day they were born - what a privilege!  They were tiny, squirmy little things, never still, almost never quiet.  Poor Scout, being a mommy isn't easy, but she's one of the best!

This weekend, JR and I are celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.  We're going to Toronto for the weekend, sort of on a whim, with no real plans in place.  We're just going to see what happens.  Should be fun (I love adventures!).

When we come back, the puppies will have opened their eyes, so I can't wait for the next visit!
